Alisha's Graduation

Welcome back everybody, I'm back on the road after flying home to Florida for my daughter's High School Graduation. It's Wednesday June 3rd and I'm watching Late Night W/Conan sitting here at Lawrenceburg Speedway. My youngest daughter Selena has joined me for the summer, she flew back out with me and we drove from Charlotte, NC. Tomorrow is fun day, Selena did really good in school this year and as a reward, I'm taking her to King's Island amusement park in Cinncinati. She deserves to have a good time without her big sister around and she is finally tall enough to ride all the roller coasters. I promised her two years ago that when she was tall enough, then I would take her back to a high dollar amusement park. So, if your in Cinncinati tomorrow and you hear blood curling screams coming from the roller coasters, it will be me pissing in my pants.

Last Tuesday I flew home from Charlotte (Thanks Jeannie for taking me to the Airport and babysitting Woody and my RV for the week). Flying on Air Tran, I actually arrived in Pensacola, FL on-time and my wife Donna was just driving into the airport arrivals area as I walked outside to call her. It was great to get home for a week, I miss being with Donna and the girls, and as I figured, Donna did have a honey dew list for me. It wasn't too long nor were any of them very complicated. Wednesday I had a good lunch with my good friend Harry, we were in the Navy together and he retired one year before me. If any of you reading my blogs have been in the Navy on the enlisted side you will understand this next part, Harry was my lawyer during my Chief's Initiation, need I say more, if real lawyers were as good as Harry, our jails wouldn't be over crowded. Harry, thanks for having my back during initiation and for making sure I tasted raw egg with fish paste smeared in my mustach, while crawling around on my hands & knees in the sand with a 20lb rotten gutted grouper on my head waiting to see the judge!! It was all worth it and I would do it again to be able to put on my khaki's as a United States Navy Chief Petty Officer.

Friday I went on Selena's end of the school year field trip to Tallahasse, FL visit the state capital and a couple of the museums near the capital. I had a great time and I learned a lot of information about Selena from her classmates that neither Donna nor I ever knew. I learned that Selena had a boyfriend in school for about 2 weeks and during that time she kissed a boy. I also learned that she is still kinda the class clown, but all of her teachers loved having her in their class. While I was on the field trip, my parents arrived at the house in their RV and took Donna & Alisha out to dinner.

Also on Friday, Donna received a phone call from the high school principal letting us know that Alisha was caught on tape breaking into the school the night before to pull some senior pranks with 9 other students. He had all 10 of them in his office interagating them one at a time. So, for about 2 hours we didn't know if he was going to allow Alisha to participate in graduation and walk across the stage with her class. Thank god Alisha was a good kid during her HS career and the fact that there were 9 other kids including the class president, the principle assigned them detention Fri, Sat, & Mon prior to graduation.

I spent the weekend working around the house working with my Dad and spending time with my Mom. They wanted me to tell everyone that they are really enjoying retirement, it took them a while to figure out how to travel around in there RV not following a racing schedule. They said it was hard not having to be be at a certain place at a certain time, but they are figuring it and having a good time. After leaving my place Tuesday morning, they are heading for Vancouver, BC to catch their ship for their 7 day Alaskan Cruise. While in Vancouver, they will get a chance to spend some time with Frank & Cathy Carr, their good friends for the past 25 years.

Monday was the big day for all of us, but especially Alisha. Graduation Day had finally arrived, it was a beautiful Pensacola day, blue skies, sparkling white beaches, and very warm temps. Along with myself and my Mom & Dad, Alisha's Godmother (Jeannie) and her son Chris who at times acted as Alisha's big brother. Man, Alisha looked absolutely beautiful in her dress and cap & gown (see the pictures I added to the gallery). I am so proud of Alisha, but now it is time to cut the cord and watch her become a young adult. I will get to spend one last summer with her, she is flying out to Kansas City next week and I will pick her up on my way to Dodge City. Yeah, someone to help me drive, do laundry, clean the inside of the RV, and cook dinner. When she's done with all that, you might see her riding with me on Woody working on the track. Come by and say "hi" to her after the races.

Well, its time to get to bed for tomorrows big day, I hope you have enjoyed reading my blogs, because I'm having fun writing them. If you are within 150 miles of Lawrenceburg, IN, you have got to pack up the kids and come watch the greatest sprint car drivers in the world at this great facility. I looked at it today and the changes they have made here since 2006 is amazing. The WoO is going to put on a great show here Friday & Saturday.

Again, I want to thank all the fans for supporting me and Work 'N Woody and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. So, until my next blog, stay safe and keep all four wheels on the ground.

Work 'N Woody,
"Just Push'n Off"
